UNIFORM: Any shorts and a T-shirt will work. NO POCKETS, ZIPPERS or BUTTONS please. No jewelry can be worn during the activity. Gym shorts with spats (leggings) and a rash guard style top is highly recommended. A mouthguard is also recommended.
Sandals (indoor) are also a good idea--sandals, socks or shoes MUST be worn when using the washroom. Only bare feet on the mats please!
Hygiene: Athletes should have finger and toe nails clipped short (no one wants an eye injury) and uniform should be clean. They should shower as soon as reasonably possible after practice.
Fridays 5:30pm-6:30 NOGI STARTING JULY 10th
ADULTS BJJ AND NOGI GRAPPLING
Lets roll!!
We have lots of people who contact us about getting started with Brazilian Jiujitsu but are worried about their fitness, skill level & exactly what it means to grapple. Let’s hit the easy button.
Classes are designed so you’ll learn all the fundamental skills of the grappling arts and experience small slices of sport in a controlled, playful setting every day.
Our focus is on skill development and we move toward this goal collectively, as a team! Every class is accessible and appropriate for all skill levels.
Competition practices are by invitation only and we limit that level of intensity to only those who decide to take that step.
We practice in the GI on Mondays and NOGI the rest of the week. If you are just getting started, we suggest starting with NOGI. We do have a handful of loaner uniforms for beginners and out of town visitors. Shoot us a message if you need one ;)

KIDS NOGI BJJ
Brazilian jiu jitsu is a great choice for all kids!
It’s for athletes who want to compete, kids who want a fun hobby and anyone looking for an amazing way to build confidence and movement fluency. It’s true, BJJ is the best for self defense too.
Taught by our BJJ blackbelt and multi sport NCAA level 2 coach, all classes are delivered in a games based format that guarantees engagement, focus and sticky learning.
Opportunities to compete are available but there’s no pressure to participate.
All classes are NOGI - meaning that there is no special uniform to buy. TEAM rash guards are available to purchase at the club!
FALL AND WINTER SESSIONS WILL BE ANNOUNCED MID AUGUST!
Parents and family members are welcome to observe practice sessions but must never offer coaching or interact with athletes. All parents and children will follow the principles of fair play, developing skill by working together, trying our best, respect for everyone, safety first and prioritizing FUN, play and participation over all other goals and outcomes.
The gym has limited changing areas, participants should arrive ready to participate.
The gym is a no outdoor footwear space. PLEASE remove footwear before entering.

Grappling sports are growing fast but the rule sets are not widely understood. While competition is not the focus of our practices, we do use the sport as the reference point for skill development. MOST local tournaments use the IBJJF rules. Under 12 years of age, most matches are decided by points based on positional dominance and submissions are limited to the arms and chokes where the is no pressure of strain on the neck. If you would like to learn more, here's a like to the official rule book. IBJJF Livro de Regras 2018
